Device explodes near Japan’s prime minister Fumio Kishida – video

The Japanese prime minister, Fumio Kishida, was evacuated unharmed after a blast at a western port. A suspect was apprehended for allegedly throwing an explosive device, local media reported. NHK said the explosion occurred just before Kishida was about to begin a speech and no injuries had been reported. Kishida was visiting the Saikazaki port, in Wakayama prefecture, to support his ruling party's candidate in a local election. The incident comes only nine months after the former prime minister Shinzo Abe was assassinated while delivering a campaign speech in the western city of Nara.
